Job Title: Safety Manager
Description: HOBSON USA is in immediate need of a Safety Manager for our Client, a quality driven commercial and industrial Environmental Service Contractor. This position will create safety polices and written plans to help prevent accidents at the main office and at construction sites. The manager will visit jobs sites as required to implement and audit programs and company safety policies. The manager will investigate in cases of accidents and will be responsible for dealing with the insurance company and OSHA. The manager will be responsible for working with the employee on any post-injury follow-up procedures. The manager will be responsible for the workplace health and safety for public and private projects. This position will report to the existing Safety Director and may take on that role if qualified.
Key Responsibilities
& prepare written safety training and health programs and policies which comply with OSHA regulations
& identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs
& develop annual company safety and health goals
& promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs
& ability to create and implement new processes
& maintain corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals)
& experience working with federal and state government (Maryland, Virginia, DC, West Virginia, & Delaware)
& design work procedures and guidelines to minimize occupational hazards in the workplace
& being able to manage multiple projects, ranging in size from 5K to 3M
& monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and workers compensation claims
& review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follow-up as necessary
& actively work and meet with insurance companies
The skills required for this position will include (but not be limited to):
& experience in construction is required, preferably in the environmental and demolition commercial contracting environment; mechanical insulation and sprayed-on fireproofing knowledge is preferred
& thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and understanding of insurance is a must
& strong experience in construction industry health and safety practices
& ability to suggest proven methods to prevent injuries
& prepare safety plans specifying the safety and health standards, practices and risk controls for all construction projects
& implement site-specific safety programs, such as emergency evacuations and visitor training
& ability to work independently and in a team environment developing positive interpersonal relationships showing strong leadership and supervisory skills
& demonstrate great attention to detail and good judgment showing logical decision making
& excellent communication skills both verbal and written
& ability to work effectively with owners, architects, subcontractors and suppliers
& strong organizational skills and ability to create and develop spreadsheets for reporting and tracking
& proficient use of Microsoft software is required (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook)
Scheduled Hours: Monday Friday, Full Time
Qualifications/ Requirements:
& minimum of 10 years of experience in safety and a work history in commercial construction is required
& minimum high school diploma
& this position requires the physical ability to maneuver on construction sites without limitations
& OSHA 30 course completion is required
& government security clearance is a plus
& ability to fluently speak Spanish is a plus
